Q: How much does it cost to ride the incline?
A: $14.00 adults, $7.00 for children (ages 3-12)

A: The Incline is open daily except Thanksgiving Day & Christmas Day.
Summer-Memorial Day Weekend through Labor Day
8:30 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. Last round trip leaves at 9:10 p.m.

Q: How do I get to the Incline Railway?
A: The Incline Railway has 2 stations available one at the top of Lookout Mountain and the other at the foot of the mountain.

Q: Is parking free?
A: There is a small parking fee at both the top and bottom stations of the Incline Railway. The meter parking at the top station and parking lot at the bottom station
are enforced 7 days a week.

Q: Are pets allowed?
A: Pets are not allowed on the Incline Railway unless they
are registered service animals.

Q: Is the Incline Railway Wheelchair Accessible?
A: Due to limited space and the design of the Incline Car, Electric wheelchairs are not permitted. Manual wheel chairs are permitted but must be folded and carried onto the Incline car. Guests must be able to get on and off the train without wheel chair assistance.

The Ride

Q: How long does the ride take?
A: The ride on the Incline takes about 10 minutes each direction, with Incline trains leaving every 20 minutes. In addition to the ride there is an observation deck, food service, and a gift shop available in addition to other activities so it is best to plan for at least an hour for the whole experience.

Q: How fast does the Incline go?
A: The Incline Railway travels a little under 10 mph.

Q: How steep is the Incline?
A: Near the top there is a 72.7% grade making it the steepest
passenger railway in the world.

Q: Does the Incline leave the ground?
A: Aside from a couple of bridges, the Incline is attached to the
ground the entire trip up the mountain.

Q: Is the railcar enclosed or open?
A: The Incline is enclosed for your safety but is surrounded with plenty of windows to see the amazing view!

Q: Is the Incline air conditioned/heated?
A: There is a heater on the car but no air conditioner. Fortunately, the windows of the car prop open to allow for a nice breeze both on the upward and downward trip.

Q: Does the Incline go to Rock City and to Ruby Falls?
A: The Incline Railway operates at a different location on Lookout Mountain than Rock City and Ruby Falls, but is only about 3 miles from those Attractions.

Q: How many people does the Incline hold?
A: The Incline cars are equipped to transport 42 people comfortably.

Q: What is there to do at the top of the Incline?
A: The newly renovated top station of the Incline Railway offers an expanded gift shop, food services and dining area, and some of the best scenic views available from Lookout Mountain at the observation deck. The Incline is also a short walking distance away from many points of Civil War interest. Battles for Chattanooga & Point Park are both must sees while at the top of Lookout Mountain.

A: Yes, the Incline Railway has food services and a dining area
available at the top station.

Q: Are gift shops available at the Incline Railway?
A: Yes, both the top and bottom stations have gift shops available.
